Surrey-Guildford was entering the second half of League play against the same Langley team they faced to open the season. SGU felt like they left points on the table in their last meeting and was determined to collect all three in this contest.
SGU definite looked the part of a determined team at the outset controlling the play and mounting chances from a variety of areas. Inside ten minutes Surrey-Guildford was on the board after a good through ball was delicately finished for a 1-0 lead. Shortly after Surrey-Guildford was rewarded for some assertive play when their right mid took on a Langley defender in the box; forcing the decision on the defender, Langley took a foul and the ensuing PK was finished for a 2-0 lead. Langley did not mount a large number of chances in the half but the few they did get were warded off by some valiant goaline saves from the keeper and defenders.
IN the second half, SGU continued to dictate the play however, a couple of very poorly played balls that were picked off deep in SGU's end result in two quick tallies, one of them and own-goal. With Langley having drawn even Surrey-Guildford pushed through the let down and kept pressing for the go-ahead goal. With ten minutes remaining, SGU finished on a corner to capture the lead and steered home the 3-2 win.
Next week Surrey-Guildford United takes on Richmond United in League play.
