This weeks matchup against Richmond would be the first meeting of the two champions at the 1997 age group from last season. Richmond are the reigning U-13 Provincial Champions and SGU are the reigning U-14 BCYSSL Challenge Cup Champions. SGU having opted to play in the Select League last season and Richmond opted for the U-13 Gold league.
Surrey Guildford United certainly did not bring forward their best game but capitalized on chances in the first half to take a 2-0 lead. The Surrey boys were disorganized as a unit at the back but their individual play was good enough to prevent the organizational flaws from costing goals.
SGU was all over Richmond in the 2nd half but could not convert their numerous opportunities. Jeevin Kang tallied both goals for SGU in the 2-1 win.
