After a faily good outing in week one SGU looked ready to take the Burnaby Selects. The team met already in pre-season play; that game ended in a 2-2 draw.
The Surrey boys look out-of-sorts right from the kick-off; United was missing passes, losing challenges and most of all, appeared completely disjointed tactically. Burnaby punished SGU for a collection of mistakes to open the scoring about ten minutes in. Surrey Guildford played a poorly weighted squared ball to a defender that was out of position and more importantly, not looking. The ensuing turnover fell to the feet of the Selects centre midfielder. As a result of their previous miscues, the keeper was now caught off his line a got painfully lobbed from thirty yards out to put the Selects up 1-0. Surrey Guildford struggled their way to the half managing to stay within one.
Play went from bad to worse in the second half with Burnaby asking all the questions and United have little for answers. The Selects tallied three carbon copy goals where strikers got 1v1 with SGU's keeper and each time finished well for a 4-0 win.
Surrey Guildford now has week to sort through the rubble before facing the Abbotsford Mariners next week in a home game.
