Uninspired Performance

Surrey-Guildford United seemed to be ready having performed quite well, despite a poor result, the week previous. CMF Roma had not lost in six games.

From the opening whistle Roma and SGU traded posession and tried to find scoring opportunities but both teams were not particularly successful in their effort. SGU tried valiantly to play together but continually looked slow and clumsy with their ball movement and their creativity in attack was uninspired. The result was a decent amount of possession but with little else to show other than keeping the ball away from Roma.

Midway through the second half, United managed to get a low cross through the face of goal but the tap in goal was called back; offside. Very late in the game Roma created a scamble in the Surrey-Guildford box and were able to put in a good shot from the mess for a 1-0 lead. SGU really and no response in the late minutes and lost the game 1-0.

United probably deserved a better fate, however, they failed to really impose thier will on the game and Roma was able to take advantage and take the win. Next week SGU face Abbotsford 'B' at home.
