Coming off a week that saw SGU perform quite well and still not earn a result, United really needed to prove they had the ability to put teams away and North Shore was going to be some tough opposition to prove that against.
Surrey-Guildford was began poorly giving a up a goal in the first five minutes however, were able to get their game going and respond quickly on a free kick from 25 yards out that was perfectly struck into the top corner to draw even. Shortly after, SGU pulled ahead on a well struck shot from the left flank that went off the far past and in for a 2-1 lead going into the half.
In the second half, SGU collectively fell apart. The squad's normally ever present work ethic fell by the wayside and North Shore began to dominate United. It was only a matter of time before North Shore was able to tie the game up. SGU showed a spark of life after the game tying goal but simply could not sustain any pressure, nor was the team willing or able to mount an effort big enough to turn momentum in their favour. North Shore kept pushing hard and United eventually faltered and with less than 5 minutes remained SGU gave up the game winning goal for their first loss of the season.
United now goes into their bye week carrying a loss. Fortunately, the bye allowed SGU to participate in the Richmond Thanksgiving Tournament where SGU will play up a divsion in U-14 Gold.
